“Surviving Christmas” series

Ed Underwood joins ODF for three weeks leading up to Christmas bringing the “Surviving Christmas” series. Let’s acknowledge that often the most wonderful time of the year is a time that highlights loss. Sorrow is often our companion. Here’s a glimpse of this 3 part series:

December 10th ‘Christmas Sorrows’: What do we do with our sorrow? In Psalm 77 the comforting honesty of a sorrowful Asaph, gives us permission to feel and express our sorrow before it morphs into the harsh and corrosive emotions of resentment, bitterness, and wrath.

December 17th ‘An Ancient Song’: Psalm 113, a call to praise the exalted Lord who stoops to help His people. The wonder of Christ’s humility, demonstrated on the First Christmas, offers the only lasting hope to our broken world. Praising Him for His willingness to come down soothes our souls during tough times…even, or especially, Christmas!

December 24th ‘A Person to Trust’: On Christmas Eve, we look at Jesus’ birth story through the unique perspective of His beloved disciple, John. It’s not just a story! It’s a reality! Think of it, the Son of God came to earth asking men and women to trust Him! You would expect God to come to earth making demands. Not Jesus. He came to earth offering life to all who would trust Him.
