Romans 12:2

Romans 12-16 series

The Decision Paul Begs Every Believer to Make. Can a single decision change a Christian’s life? I think it can! In fact, I believe there is one decision that the Book of Romans urges every Christian to make. A resolution so significant and with such potential to enrich our experience of eternal life that Paul devotes eleven chapters preparing us to consider this decision! Romans 12:1-2 invites individual believers who have read this great treatise on the mercies of God to respond in the purest form of worship that maximizes our experience of our so great salvation. The Apostle of grace begs them to choose the best life possible—a life totally entrusted to God. I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice (Romans 12:1). But a life given to God is not a human attainment. It is, finally, a gift of grace. Giving our life to God is the way of rest for the weary and overwhelmed, the path walked with the easy yoke and light burden of not conforming to the lies this world tells us about ourselves and God, but trusting in what God says about us as His cherished children. When we give our lives to God in this way it shouldn’t surprise us that He immediately asks us to follow His Son’s example by giving our lives away to others…beginning with the community of the redeemed (Romans 12:3-8).
